On Tuesday, April 27th, I went to my regular check up to learn that I was 4cm dilated and ready to have a baby. The midwife said to go home, relax, and get ready to be a mom that night. I followed orders and sure enough at about 4 o'clock contractions were starting. At about 8:30 the contractions were strong enough to stop me in my tracks- we left the apartment for the hospital at about 9:00.
Upon arrival the midwife examined me and exclaimed, "You are 9cm dilated and need to start pushing in about an hour!" I was relieved to hear that I was so close to delivery. I was so far progressed that any inhibition I had about natural childbirth was washed away. She reassured me that if I made it to this point I could tough it out. Surely enough, I started pushing at about 10:30 and Caleb James sprung into the world at 11:15pm!!!!! I survived!!!!!! The exhilaration I felt when he was delivered was unbelievably overwhelming. I could not believe that the tiny body they placed on my stomach was my son. That is until I saw the tuft of black hair on his head- I let my head drop down in relief that he was alive and we survived!
A little piece of webber net for our pals and fams to check in with Jon, Kelly, and Mr. Dude McDude
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.Psalms 127:3-5 ESV
