Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.Psalms 127:3-5 ESV

"You Can't Get Beaches Like THAT in Watertown..."

We just returned from our first beach vacation, as a family, in Montauk.  Let's put it this way- on the way home in the car I looked at Jon and said, "I'm not happy about admitting this, but New York really does have it all."  The drive to the beach and back were smooth, Caleb slept, and I loved every minute of the drive through the Hamptons (home to one of  my cooking heroes, The Barefoot Contessa).  East Hampton is just so beautiful...route 27 is lined with original colonial buildings, farm stands, vineyards and colorful orchards.  As if that weren't enough, you finally reach "The End" of Long Island, Montauk.

This place is just immaculate.  Caleb experienced the beach and felt the sand and sea water on his feet for the first time.  On one of our walks, he was filled with laughter at the sea breeze and his little hat blowing off.  We looked at some of the most beautiful sunsets every night and on our last night built a bonfire on the beach and made smores.  The vacation taught me that, I'll never be fully prepared, I need to stop worrying about EVERYTHING, and that I am excited to live in NY.  It was a special and memorable vacation.
Breathtaking sunset...
